We are looking for an accomplished attorney to join our team as we dare to dream, disrupt, and deliver solutions for our customers. As an attorney on our Auto Finance Servicing team, you will serve in a key role advising our complaints and operations team across the full spectrum of payments, credit reporting and debt collection activities, as well as customer communications and contact strategy, repossession of vehicles, auctions, and post-auction collection efforts. We help our business customers ensure that our interactions with customers follow both the letter and spirit of the law, and that we treat customers with compassion and humanity.

More specifically, you will:

  • Advise the operations team that manages customer complaints for Capital One's Auto Finance line of business;
  • Advise the Auto Finance servicing line of business on the legal significance and interpretation of applicable laws and regulations tailored to specific processes and practices;
  • Over time, develop a thorough understanding of the entire division's operations and strategy so that your legal advice regarding how the business operations teams implement legal requirements is clear and contextualized; and
  • Perform all of the above responsibilities in a highly-collaborative environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibilities, promotes a growth mindset, and rewards your innovation and intellectual curiosity.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor and member in good standing of at least one state bar
  • At least 3 years of experience in a law firm, governmental agency, or as in-house counsel working on litigation or regulatory compliance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in a law firm, governmental agency, or as in-house counsel, working on consumer finance litigation or regulatory compliance
  • 1+ year of experience in debt collections
  • Experience working with and understanding Artificial Intelligence (Ai), technology, data, and process improvement
