The Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) is responsible for developing, coordinating, and monitoring all programs and services designed to meet the needs of individuals in the assigned caseload utilizing a person-centered approach. Assigned caseloads will include Intermediate Care Facility/(ICF/MR) and/or Waiver locations. As a member of the management team, the QIDP is ultimately responsible for the development, coordination and monitoring of all aspects of our people’s lives in your assigned caseload.  Responsibilities include service coordination for all aspects of life on a twenty-four (24) hour, seven (7) days a week basis as well as being on-call through cell phones.  As a QIDP, you are the delegated authority and have the responsibility and accountability to carry out all assigned duties.  It is expected that you spend 40% of time supervising direct resident support services performed and 60% of time devoted to general operations, administrative work, reporting and coordination of services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Program Director.
  • Directly manage a Program Coordinator and team of Direct Support Professionals.
  • Complete responsibility for clinical needs and problematic issues for the assigned caseload. 
  • Write weekly Q notes, quarterly reviews, incident reports, and individual support plans, support programs, behavioral interventions, and related documents according to regulations, standards, and procedures.
  • Respond to issues on MCIS dashboard as it pertains to your caseload. 
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings and weekly management team meetings and provide documentation of meetings.
  • Prepare court reports and attend hearings.
  • Coordinate development of assessment and Individual Support Plans for assigned caseload.
  • Make scheduled and unscheduled visits to people’s day programs to chart progress and monitor all programming on at least a monthly basis.
  • Oversee people’s banking accounts and transactions. Review and sign off on the financial records quarterly.
  • Assign, direct, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of staff involved in the implementation of activities in a variety of program areas ensuring people’s habilitation, health, safety, and welfare.
  • Coordinate with nursing to ensure optimum health of each person in assigned caseload.   
  • Monitor facility status to make sure that facility meets regulations in accordance with local, state and federal codes.
  • Review and ensure daily documentation is thoroughly completed by staff per policy and in compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, codes, and standards for service provision. 
  • Identify training and knowledge gaps of staff and coordinate staff development.
  • Oversee/monitor staff to ensure personal care and programmatic needs of our people are met on a daily basis.
  • Oversee scheduling of staff to ensure there is proper coverage for medical appointments, activities and medication coverage and fill in as a Direct Support Professional as needed.   
  • Provide counseling and initiate disciplinary procedures to resolve staff’s performance deficiencies in coordination with the Program Coordinator and Human Resources. 
  • Assist with personal care routines such as meal time protocol, personal grooming, toileting and dressing. Utilize adaptive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, hearing aids, etc.) in accordance with given directives and needs of individuals which you are serving.
  • Ensure that medication is administered per DC TME regulations & RCM of Washington Nursing Policy and reports any deviations or medication errors to the supervising nurse immediately per regulations.
  • Exercise good and proper judgment in the application of established policies and procedures in order to ensure well-being and safety of all individuals that we serve.
  • Interact frequently and positively with people we support, external professionals, clinicians, families, etc.
  • Report all allegations or suspicions of abuse, neglect, or violations of “People’s Rights”.
  • Accompany people on outings and engage in leisure, educational, and recreational activities.
  • Transport our people to and from appointments, therapy sessions, programs, clinics, and other activities as scheduled and/or required.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude and a professional work relationship among all staff.
  • Be aware of and safeguard welfare of people at all times.
  • Serve as an advocate for the people we support and uphold all “People’s Rights” in accordance with regulations.
  • Participate in all on-going job-related training (all 4 phase of DDS training) and staff meetings with the ability to demonstrate training competency.
  • Follow all RCM Policies and Procedures.
  • Keep up to date on all certifications (Trained Medication Employee, Health certificate with negative Tuberculosis test results, CPR, First Aid, CPI and other necessary certifications of the position).
  • Must maintain hygiene and appropriate attire.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Rehabilitative Services, or other human services degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working in the intellectual/developmental disabilities field
  • Possess a valid and current driver license in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia with own reliable transportation.
  • Able/willing to navigate the DC community in association with job duties and in accommodation of assigned people.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain annual health certificate stating employee is free and clear of any and all communicable diseases.
