Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Director of Special Education for our Ridge School of Montgomery County who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As a Director of Special Education you will:
•Plan, develop, and implement the overall structure of the school's special education services to students which includes, but is not limited to the academic, clinical, and behavioral components of the school program.
•Establish and maintain positive relationships with all local school system representatives to ensure sufficient student referrals to meet student enrollment and annual budget goals.
•Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal requirements and regulations regarding the operation of a nonpublic special education program for students with emotional disabilities, multiple disabilities, other health impairments, and specific learning disabilities.
•Develop and maintain the school's annual budget.
•Provide oversight and supervision for day-to-day school operations.
•Hire qualified staff across all disciplines.
•Support & supervise staff across all disciplines including promotions & terminations when appropriate.
•Establish & maintain good working relationships with all local school systems, outside agencies, and MSDE & OSSE representatives.
•Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with parents and other community stakeholders.

Qualifications include:
•Master's Degree in special education required
•Minimum of 5 years experience in special education settings
•Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory/management capacity in a school setting
•MSDE certification required
•Knowledge and understanding of MSDE COMAR regulations and OSSE regulations
•Strong leadership ability
•Excellent communication skills
•Excellent time management skills
•Strong ability to manage staff across all disciplines w/in the contexts of ADV policies and procedures, local, state, and federal guidelines, and Ridge School protocols
•Excellent knowledge and understanding of special education and emotional disturbance
•Ability to think creatively in terms of ongoing program development

Work Schedule:

12 month position

Monday - Friday

730am - 4pm or 8am - 430pm
