The Privacy Compliance Manager is an important member of the Office of General Counsel (OGC) who helps AARP achieve its privacy compliance and regulatory objectives. The privacy manager is responsible for the intake of privacy information and execution of workflows in close collaboration with groups across AARP, including data & analytics, governance, information security, technology, consumer care, marketing and others. The successful candidate will be familiar with privacy automation tools and software, such as OneTrust, and maintains working knowledge of data privacy requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supports AARP's data privacy program supervised by AARP's privacy attorneys and other members of OGC
  • Coordinates with technical teams, data managers, and business units on the implementation and execution of privacy policies, practices, and procedures
  • Ensures AARP's privacy automation tools and software integrate and operate with new and existing systems used by AARP's business units
  • Handles internal Privacy Impact Assessments workflows in collaboration with AARP's privacy attorneys
  • Administers the consumer privacy rights fulfillment process, including monitoring privacy requests within privacy automation software and coordinating workflows with other teams
  • Improves privacy program maturity by maintaining inventory of personal data and mapping of data flows, overseeing ongoing privacy initiatives, implementing data privacy controls, managing competing priorities, and providing ongoing support for the use of privacy software and automation tools
  • Supports other legal department operations

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant privacy compliance and/or paralegal manager experience, preferably from a consumer-facing organization, law firm, or privacy consultancy
  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • CIPP or other privacy certification a plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Understanding of privacy concepts, processes and common privacy tools

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
