Summary

The NJVC Spatial Solutions Division has an opening for an experienced DevOps Engineer to assist with the development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of critical systems.

Responsibilities
  • The primary duties will be to support the development of a compute cluster project to enable custom code to create server clusters for large-scale analysis jobs.
  • Create GitLab Projects to house services.
  • Create a GitLab runner with software and privileges to run services.
  • Create EC2 IAM Instance roles that will be associated with the GitLab runner with privileges to execute jobs.
  • Investigate Code/Job needs for logging to provide the status (CW, GITLAB ingest) and script inclusion of status items into GITLAB.
  • Create and Maintain DevOps documentation.
  • Contribute to other developments and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • BS in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related discipline and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Understanding of custom code development/reviews
  • Direct experience with Python scripting
  • Experience with GITLAB functionality, error codes, and scripting
  • Familiar with AWS services/technologies (e.g. CloudWatch, IAM, EMR)
  • Experience supporting development testing
  • Experience with cloud-based architectures
  • Active Top-Secret Clearance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance
  • Understanding of DevOps methodologies and workflow
  • Knowledge of the Architectural, SW Development and SW Sustainment Practices
  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, and previous customer service experience strongly desired.
  • Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it
