The NJVC Spatial Solutions Division has an opening for an experienced DevOps Engineer to assist with the development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of critical systems.
Responsibilities
- The primary duties will be to support the development of a compute cluster project to enable custom code to create server clusters for large-scale analysis jobs.
- Create GitLab Projects to house services.
- Create a GitLab runner with software and privileges to run services.
- Create EC2 IAM Instance roles that will be associated with the GitLab runner with privileges to execute jobs.
- Investigate Code/Job needs for logging to provide the status (CW, GITLAB ingest) and script inclusion of status items into GITLAB.
- Create and Maintain DevOps documentation.
- Contribute to other developments and activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BS in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related discipline and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2+ years of prior relevant experience
- Understanding of custom code development/reviews
- Direct experience with Python scripting
- Experience with GITLAB functionality, error codes, and scripting
- Familiar with AWS services/technologies (e.g. CloudWatch, IAM, EMR)
- Experience supporting development testing
- Experience with cloud-based architectures
- Active Top-Secret Clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance
- Understanding of DevOps methodologies and workflow
- Knowledge of the Architectural, SW Development and SW Sustainment Practices
- Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
- Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
- Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
- Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, and previous customer service experience strongly desired.
- Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it
