Job Description

The Washington Post is looking for a highly motivated audience specialist with exceptional skills in audience curation, research, marketing and project management in order to build and manage virtual and in-person influencer audiences for each Washington Post Live program. By developing audience outreach strategies, fostering internal and external partnerships, identifying new opportunities and managing databases, this person will be responsible for managing the audience growth strategy for WPL news programs, increasing each program's leadership reach and presenting audience insights. This position will also look at strategies and enhancements to ensure this curated, leadership audience receives the best experience on site, whether those events are The Post's headquarters, across the country or international. As an integral member of the team, he or she will be responsible for growing Post Live's core audience and their engagement with our programs, both on site and virtual, recommending new opportunities and overseeing the implementation of these strategies.

You would be joining a fast-paced, highly collaborative and creative team that produces hundreds of virtual and in-person events a year, including curated dinners, large-scale full-day summits and everything in between.

Job Responsibilities:
  • To build a strong, qualified audience of thought leaders for every Post Live event (virtual and in-person), manage an influencer audience strategy, which includes but is not limited to developing outreach strategies and best practices and overseeing audience databases
  • Identify and foster multiple internal and external partnerships throughout the year to create new growth channels for leads and audience retention
  • Think creatively and strategically to hand-curate audiences relative to the type of event, whether intimate dinners, large-scale summits and events out of market, including non U.S. locations
  • Analyze and interpret audience insights to identify trends and recommendations for success
  • Convert leads to registrations by tailoring external messages and marketing copy to specific audiences
  • Bolster our in-room audience experience by identifying on-site enhancements and providing stellar customer service

Requirements:
  • 2-5 years experience curating audiences and building experiences for a variety of events including large scale conferences, intimate dinners and other gatherings. Experience with buliding audiences in various markets and internationally a plus.
  • Proven track record of growing and maintaning leads, exceptional research and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, with little oversight
  • Work collaboratively, prioritize effectively and manage multiple projects in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding skills in communication, time management, organization and teamwork
  • Strong writing and copywriting
  • Advanced skill level of Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Media, marketing, agency or project management background (4+ years)
  • Strong news judgment or background in journalism a plus
  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university
