Job Details
The Washington Post is hiring a Quality Assurance engineer to bolster our existing team. The QA team works primarily with The Post's subscriptions and flagship app engineering teams. As an engineer, you will work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and break them into user stories, develop test plans, test cases and execute test scenarios. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining automated regression test suites for a variety of teams and applications. The analyst works with the product managers and engineering leads as quality gatekeepers for our production environment. The work is fast paced and varied with opportunities to work with different teams and colleagues from across the company.

Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in agile team ceremonies adding testing perspective on development story details, delivering sprint commitments and retrospective ideas.
- Track and prepare reports on testing activities including testing results, test case coverage, defects discovered and their status and performance.
- Build and manage comprehensive test regression suites by adding new feature test cases on an on-going basis.
- Perform regression suite testing based on the sprint release schedule.
- Determine test environment requirements, support generation of test data requirements in coordination with product owners and engineering leads
- Actively seeking for opportunities to enhance standard practices and improve process efficiency.
- Work hand in hand with engineers to produce the highest quality product.
- Be a vocal contributor in agile team ceremonies adding testing perspective on detailing story details, delivering sprint commitments, and retrospective ideas.
- Review story acceptance criteria, User Experience (UX) designs, and produce test cases for new features in the sprint.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 months of experience in software engineering field, testing new or rapidly evolving software delivered by an engineering team in an agile software development process
- Basic understanding and knowledge of Software Engineering Concepts and methodologies.
- Familiarity with Atlassian's JIRA and Confluence
- Experience with Sauce Labs, EndTest or Catchpoint is preferred
- Proficient written and oral communication skills.
- Highly driven and resourceful.
- Strong ability to collaborate.
- Familiar with Testing methodologies, Scrum/Kanban
- Ability to take on challenges and address problems head-on to and find a solution.
- Experience maintaining and executing a regression test suite within a test case management tool such as Xray, TestRail, Zephyr is preferred
