The Washington Post is a top news destination for millions of people and we're looking for a Senior Product Manager for the Ads Targeting and Audience team. We're looking for an experienced product manager to play a critical role in our data and audience product strategy and build collaborative partnerships with our Sales, CSM, AdOps, Data Strategy, and Development teams.

The ideal candidate will have a history of bringing digital products to market, excellent multi-platform instincts, solid business acumen, clear written and verbal communications skills, and a history of hitting deadlines while delivering excellent products. Experience in the digital advertising space is preferred but not required.

In this role, you will be responsible for internal products related to our Ads and Audience business such as brand suitability, audience discovery, and data portability with tie-ins to other parts of our ads business. By working with stakeholders across the Biz and Dev orgs, you'll help identify strengths and gaps and lead essential cross-organizational initiatives that continually improve The Washington Post's ads and data capabilities, and in-market offerings.

Responsibilities:
  • Drive execution and delivery of multiple high-profile product or software development projects from start to finish and manage the work of at least one to two small-midsize engineering teams and delivery of technical programs from start to finish.
  • Own the product roadmap and weigh new product creation, integrations, and existing maintenance while keeping in line with product-defined priorities.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of day-to-day project statuses, updates, and risks.
  • Cultivate relationships across engineering, technical, and ads teams while serving directly as the end-to-end liaison.
  • Identify solution paths for competing requirements while managing stakeholder preferences.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge, and facilitate the development of requirements in consideration of known technical capabilities and limitations.
  • Work with backend and service teams to establish the needs of your team, continually communicate risks to all stakeholders, and facilitate discussions to help remove blockers.
  • Perform product management and integration of commercial products throughout the business organization in conjunction with vendors and development teams.
  • Support the client services and operational teams for product rollouts and custom executions.
  • Assist with all aspects of the product life cycle, including strategy, product requirements definition, design, user testing, launch plans, and future enhancements.
  • Gather business needs, analytics, and feedback from across the company to identify new opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Regularly track product performance, benchmarks, and success metrics and drive strategy on best areas for enhancement and growth.
  • Excellent project management skills, you will be responsible not for both the ideation and strategic execution of the product.
  • A penchant for data-driven decision-making and goal setting to ship high-quality products, measure their performance, evaluate their efficacy
  • Use data and cross-departmental feedback to inform updates, feature enhancements, and new iterations of products.


Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience as a Product Manager managing large-scale products and their related projects.
  • Experience working with teams of software developers who adopt modern DevOps practices like the agile software development process and experience using bug ticketing and wiki software.
  • Experience running development projects through the entire SDLC.
  • Ability to communicate cross-functionally among multiple stakeholders and explain complex systems or concepts using appropriate terminology.
  • Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in the digital media and tech space.
  • Passion for The Washington Post or journalism/publishing industry at large.
