Principal Associate - Process Manager

The Retail Managing Data Steward Team at Capital One offers a unique opportunity to partner with the Bank data community at large to provide education and guidance toward Enterprise data policy compliance. We use data analytics to inform our priorities, opportunities and modernization efforts while ensuring that our data is registered, protected, and secure. Our group is driving a culture change where data management is top of mind for our associates, and you will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in making this happen.

As a Principal Associate of Process Management, you will be accountable for delivering data-related processes that mitigate risk, ensure policy compliance, and drive results.You will manage all High Priority Usage functions and policy compliance. You will work closely with product and technology teams, multiple business segments and our risk and compliance counterparts to ensure adequate control design, modernized protocols and optimal performance. You will also help implement automated monitoring mechanisms and metrics and improve reporting to Accountable Executives and Stakeholders. You will also lead or engage in critical departmental or cross-functional organizational initiatives and projects that rationalize and improve existing processes. You will play a key role in delivering well-managed, re-imagined and streamlined processes that impact the company's data and our customers' lives. In this position, you will contribute immediately, strengthening your well-managed best practices and implementing modernization efforts.

Responsibilities:
  • Own High Priority Usage scope of work and ensure aligns with IDM Policy and Regulatory requirements
  • Execute critical data management processes aligned with High Priority Usages and High Priority Data Elements
  • Manage controls related to High Priority usage and ensure execution is complete based on the timing and requirement of the control. Maintain evidence and be prepared to represent results to EDRM, Audit and first line testing.
  • Organize scope of work, manage others in getting the work completed and ensure critical deadlines are met
  • Report to leadership updates, obstacles and status of work
  • Collaborate with internal partners to build an understanding of processes or workflows that involve sensitive data and ensure that it is properly protected
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key internal stakeholders in support of Capital One's data management policies
  • Train leadership, Performing Data Stewards and Engineering leads and others on High Priority Usage requirements and their roles/responsibilities
  • Identify and drive process improvements aligned with departmental vision and strategy
  • Analyze, identify, and correct data opportunities with existing data management processes
  • Provide subject matter expertise on data management processes when representing the department in projects and other meetings
  • Engage with the Retail data community at large as a champion for High Priority Usages
  • Champion new delivery models including engaging Product and Technology teams in the creation and delivery of new processes and controls


A qualified candidate will have:
  • Project and process management skills to manage all High Priority Usage functions and related policy compliance
  • Demonstrate that they can improve company controls and data management processes
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence partners across the company and across multiple levels of the organization
  • Strong attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic agile environment using project management and process management skills
  • Strong leadership skills and be able to drive and motivate others in delivering flawless execution
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to change quickly
  • A solid grasp of Process Management concepts and Agile experience, working with a cross-functional team and experience working with data and automation tools
  • A desire to ask why and understand how we can improve


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in Process Management
  • At least 5 years of experience in Project Management


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Lean certification or Six Sigma certification
  • PMP certification
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • 2+ years of experience working with data languages and platforms
