Job Description

This position performs a wide variety of essential functions related to the Compensation, Benefits, and Leave Administration functions of the Department of Human Resources. This is a confidential position responsible for processing highly sensitive documents and information. This position reports to the Director of Compensation & Benefits.

Qualifications

Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.

Experience:
  • Minimum one year of Human Resources experience, preferably in Compensation, Benefits, and/or Leave Administration.
  • Experience in the public education sector is a plus.

Other Skills:
  • Excellent computer software skills (e.g., MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; database management; Google calendar and Google documents; Zoom; etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills, including keen attention to detail and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Strong oral and communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively with individuals at varying levels of the organization.
  • Skilled in collaborating with others and working in teams, as well as working independently.
  • Excellent time-management skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines with multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and use a can-do approach to spot and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Practices a high level of confidentiality with a focus on building relationships with trust, authenticity, and mutual respect with stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides telephone and email support for a wide variety of compensation, benefits, and leave-related inquiries to provide information/guidance and/or direct to the appropriate staff for resolution.
  • Researches a wide variety of topics (e.g., HR best practices, current practices, Board policies/documents, etc.) to provide information for addressing various compensation, benefits, and leave requirements.
  • Uses various software to create, organize, and disseminate department memoranda, presentations, exhibits, spreadsheets, notes, forms, agendas, flyers, and other materials.
  • Works within MUNIS, TalentEd, LaborSoft, and/or other ACPS-automated systems to carry out HR tasks.
  • Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g., PowerPoint slides, reports, letters, meeting minutes, etc.) in support of the Director of Compensation & Benefits.
  • Creates and maintains files and records (confidential/non-confidential) in accordance with administrative/legal requirements and HR protocols; and scans and electronically files documentation, using established electronic filing systems.
  • Assists other personnel as may be required to ensure an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Director of Compensation & Benefits, and other members of the Compensation & Benefits team.

Work Requirements
  • Onsite work attendance in Central Office (1340 Braddock Place) five days per week.


Clearances
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.

Public Health Compliance
  • Proof of COVID vaccination. Exemptions for religious/medical will be reviewed.
  • Must follow safety and health protocols.
