Principal Risk Specialist - Controls Monitoring Team
As a Principal Risk Specialist in Capital One's Customer Resiliency Risk Management organization, you will apply your people leadership and process management skills to our Monitoring and Controls processes. You will lead a team responsible for improving business efficiency, customer experience, delivering excellent results, and reducing risk. You will enable improvements to our controls efficiency through supporting the deduplication, centralization, and automation of existing controls, and identify preventive solutions to reduce exceptions to our detective controls. You will collaborate with, educate, and gain buy-in from key stakeholders concerning the health and performance of processes supporting US Card Customer Resiliency.
We are seeking dedicated, disciplined, process professionals who excel in a team environment and are experts in process improvement. This individual will have demonstrated that they can improve company processes, resulting in saving time and resources for the company. This individual must be able to effectively communicate and influence partners across the company and across multiple levels of the organization. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic agile environment are essential to succeeding in this role. This individual must display strong leadership skills and be able to drive and motivate a team in delivering flawless execution of process improvement projects.

- Leading a high performing team of associates
- Apply leadership skills such as communication and change management to help drive key priorities like technology changes and continuous improvement
- Exh ibit excellent people management skills; helping associates grow and develop while holding them accountable, encourage and demonstrate a positive attitude, team spirit, set high standards, coach team members, provide feedback, communicate a vision, and encourage innovation
- Providing subject matter expertise when representing the department in projects and supporting internal and external audits
- Proactively identify process improvements that will improve Risk Assessment and Controls Management practices, and that are aligned with desired customer outcomes
- Assist in implementing policies, procedures, new systems and organization changes
- Strong ability to create and deliver verbal and written communications between business partners
- Perform actions that continuously support Risk Management, Compliance, and Audit activities
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification*
- At least 2 years of experience in Process Management
- At least 1 year of experience in coaching, mentoring or leading others
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or military experience
- Lean, Agile, Scrum, Six Sigma certifications
- 1+ years of experience in Risk Management
- 3+ years of experience In Process Management
- 2+ years of experience in People Management
