Sr. Manager, Risk Management

As a Senior Manager-level process owner and assessments team leader within the Financial Services' Business Risk Office, you will lead a team of high performing risk management professionals charged with providing professional risk judgment that enables business partners to tackle major company challenges. Additionally, you will set the strategic direction for and own the end-to-end design, management, and improvement of one of our most critical risk management processes which cares for critical business process identification and assessment, divisional risk identification and assessment, process and product risk assessment, requirement control suite effectiveness assessments, and Launch Capital One's new product, marketing, and initiatives governance program.

In this role, not only will you lean into your analytical and problem solving skills by developing and deploying innovative solutions to mitigate risks to the Company, but you will also grow your strategic and influencing skills as you create and implement process strategies and solutions that enable the Company to perfect its risk ecosystem and win in the market. You will help create order and sense out of complexity and enable confident, data-inspired risk decision making.

As an integral member of the team, you will have a high level of exposure across the division and partner closely with senior business and risk office leaders, technology, compliance, legal, and operational risk.

In your role, you will:
  • Lead a team of risk professionals responsible for identifying and assessing the impact of the changing regulatory environment on business objectives and risk appetite;
  • Design and implement smart, sustainable, and scalable solutions to customer problems and bring key customer benefits to life while promoting an environment where innovation and agile-learning are expected for success;
  • Partner with product and data teams to develop and implement systems and tools that drive real-time risk insights and remove friction from processes;
  • Influence Enterprise Risk Management intent as a divisional thought leader;
  • Ensure flawless implementation and execution of enterprise policy, standard, and program requirements;
  • Develop a deep understanding of business strategies, products, services, and risk profile and advise on management and mitigation of risks;
  • Independently identify, investigate, and analyze internal and external risk factors that have the potential to threaten Capital One;
  • Analyze risk data and signals to proactively identify risks and trends and provide insights that support internal customers in decision-making;
  • Ensure independent escalation of risk management gaps, issues, and concerns, including emerging risks and regulatory focus areas.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 4 years of experience in Financial Services or Risk Management
  • At least 4 years of experience supporting internal business clients
  • At least 2 years of experience in People Management
  • At least 2 years of experience in Project, Process, or Program management


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree, Juris Doctorate, or MBA
  • 5+ years experience in Financial Services or Risk Management
  • 4+ years of experience leading cross functional teams
  • Experience with Financial Analysis, Econometrics, or Statistics
  • Risk Certifications (CRCM, CAMS, CIPP, ABA Risk Management Certification)
  • Process Management Certification (Lean Six Sigma)
  • PMP Certification or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM)
