Managing Director, ABS Trading

Our Capital Markets (CM) team is looking for a Managing Director, ABS Trading. This role will report to the Head of Structured Products and will be a senior member of the Structured Products team. The Structured Products group works with clients across the bank to structure, arrange and distribute the Asset Backed Securities (ABS) and Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLO) to institutional investors as well as provide secondary liquidity. The client set operates across a broad range of asset classes in the consumer & commercial sectors. This individual will also take an active role in building out the coverage effort of Capital One's ABS issuance activities across both credit cards (COMET shelf) and the auto (COPAR shelf) business.

General Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Structured Products inventory and trading risk
    • Effectively maintain various risk positions and manages within position limits
    • Provides liquidity and trade ideas to clients while trading within set limits to assist the Structured Products team achieve objectives
  • Provide Issuer & Investor market updates which will facilitate the team winning lead and co-manage ABS and CLO mandates
  • Negotiate and execute trades with broker dealers and investors
  • Communicate flow information, relative value and trade ideas to the broader Structured Products team
  • Successful relationship and interactions with Operations, Market Risk, Technology, Compliance, Internal Audit and Legal teams
  • Engage in special projects to support new business generation


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 8 years of Asset Backed Securities or Collateralized Loan Obligations Trading experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or graduate level degree from an accredited academic institution
  • Experience with CRE CUSIP products (Agency CMBS, CRE CLO)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and proficiency in multi-tasking
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners at all levels
  • Strong interest in client contact, given significant interactions with corporate management teams, other broker dealers as well as members of the general investor community

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City: $315,000 - $400,000 for Managing Director, ABS Trading

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
