Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Washington Post's Ad Engineering team. It's a fascinating time in the digital advertising space and the Ad Engineering team is on the front lines, working to develop some of the most interesting and mission-critical products at The Post. This is a highly visible role with an opportunity to make an immediate impact on a vital revenue stream for one of the most well-known media brands in the world.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in all stages of software development - from brainstorming and prototyping to architecting, implementation, testing and support.
  • Establish and enforce engineering best practices and coding standards across a variety of projects.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Analysts and other stakeholders to develop solutions to complex problems.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience building and delivering highly-performant, customer-facing applications
  • Proficiency in modern JavaScript development principles
  • Proficiency in modern Python development principles
  • Strong understanding of event-driven architectures
  • Desire to work in an agile environment with frequent releases
  • Experience with Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB or DynamoDB
  • Experience building applications on AWS products such as EC2, ECS, Lambda, S3
  • Experience with DevOps technologies like Docker


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with digital advertising
  • Experience developing applications with React, Vue or Angular
  • Experience with event-driven software development tools such as Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS
  • Familiarity with serverless architecture, tools and patterns
