Summary/Objective  

The Prepress Technician is part of the print shop department and is an integral position within the company. In this fast-paced environment you will be applying computer-based knowledge by managing and converting customer’s art into printable formats.  

Essential Functions

Convert art files for print production  

Create print proofs using various software packages  

Plan print jobs in accordance with the training you will receive  

Create impositions for plating using Agfa ApogeeX12 imposition software 

Make plates using Agfa ApogeeX12 software and Agfa Avalon CTP system 

Create job jackets for production  

Order consumables for print shop   

Perform all duties safely, wearing required personal protective equipment  

Observe all safety rules and immediately report hazards to management  

Be punctual to work and show up consistently  

Follow all company policy as described in the Employee Handbook  

Perform other duties as required 

Required Skills/Abilities/Experience:  

Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Quark Xpress and Adobe Acrobat with Enfocus PitStop PDF editing software. 

Intermediate to advanced knowledge of prepress desktop publishing applications and overall printing knowledge is preferred for this position. 

Must be knowledgeable with Pantone Color books, press trapping and color builds. 

Knowledge of prepress imposition and platemaking are a plus but not a requirement. 

3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in prepress & print operations preferred. 

Intermediate to advanced computer literacy and proficiency with typing is required. 

Able to read and write in English

Supervisory Responsibility  
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.  

Work Environment  

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.  


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work  
  
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  

Travel  
No travel is expected for this position.  

Required Education and Experience  
  
 High school diploma or GED, or equivalent years of experience.

Must be able to get background check and drug test.
