Westat's Social Policy and Economic Research (SP&ER) Practices seek an experienced researcher to lead research, evaluations, and proposals. You will bring:

• Experience successfully directing large-scale studies for the US Department of Labor, the Administration for Children and Families, and other federal social policy agencies 
• A strong track record of winning large-scale proposals with the US Department of Labor, the HHS Administration for Children and Families, and other federal social policy agencies
• Subject matter expertise in topics related to employment and training, family support, and social safety net programs. 

Job responsibilities include:
• Leading large research projects.
• Reviewing and ensuring the quality of project deliverables.
• Overseeing projects' financial management and reporting.
• Serving as a subject matter expert for social policy projects.
• Communicating results to broad audiences including policymakers and practitioners through written and oral presentations.
• Mentoring staff on projects and proposals.
• Identifying and advancing business opportunities.
• Identifying external partnerships for proposals and business opportunities.
• Leading and reviewing technical and business proposals.

Basic Qualifications:
• Master's degree in a social science field (e.g., economics, education, psychology, public policy, or sociology).
• 10 or more years of experience in public policy research.
• Experience serving as a project director or principal investigator for the US Department of Labor and the HHS Administration for Children and Families.
• US Citizenship is required by contract.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree in a social science field (e.g., economics, education, psychology, public policy, or sociology)
• Demonstrated success in leading winning proposals for Federal social policy research
• Demonstrated success in leading large-scale projects
