Overview

AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP's millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

As the Marketing Manager for Financial and Insurance Products for AARP Services in the marketing department, you will develop and implement multi-channel marketing campaigns and program strategies to achieve varied organizational objectives. In addition, you will ensure marketing activities are integrated with other parts of the business and align with overall organization objectives. Develop and implement tactical plans to achieve goals. Track and assess campaign results as well as adjust marketing strategies and plans to meet changing markets and competitive conditions. Collaborate with management to identify opportunities to streamline marketing processes and develop new procedures that support the business unit/department.

Responsibilities

  • Supports internal and/or external teams and clients by creating proposals, presentations, and other materials using product/program information, data, and media insights. Assists with planning, creation, and execution of various strategic marketing communications.
  • Consults and collaborates with cross-functional teams, colleagues, and leadership to deliver effective programs and other client offerings that advance organizational goals.
  • Monitors the competitive landscape and market trends to identify new opportunities for the organization to shape products, programs, and/or services most relevant to the target audience.
  • Provides guidance on marketing best practices and campaign strategies to colleagues and/or external partners as necessary. Advises campaign stakeholders about next steps, opportunities, and risks based on best practices and lessons learned.
  • Observes, reviews, and measures the campaign outcomes, proactively elevating lessons learned to key stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications or combination of relationship management and marketing.
  • Industry knowledge and experience working with insurance and/or financial products preferred.
  • Solid relationship management and project management skills, and the ability to manage and influence relationships across multiple external vendors and business partners.
  • Experience in partner/affinity marketing and/or oversight of external marketing relationships preferred.
  • Previous experience with direct-to-consumer marketing experience, especially in direct response channels; DM, DRTV, email, online, social media.
  • Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation and interpersonal communication skills a must.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time at a fast and efficient pace.
  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
