Overview

AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP's millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

As the Account Development Manager on the Lifestyle Products and Services team in AARP Services, Inc., you will oversee the management of the day-to-day activities for the everyday discount provider relationship programs and associated contracts to identify improvements and measure outcomes. Serve as the primary contact person for the provider to execute programs. Program management at this level may be visible, with moderate complexity, carry moderate risk regarding organizational brand and/or organizational liability, and have moderate revenue impact. You will have responsibility for shared goals of AARP, AARP Services, Inc. (ASI), and provider-partners that will increase membership value, support membership acquisition and renewal. Ensures program meets the highest levels of member satisfaction, service, engagement, and supports AARP Experience (AARPx) principles.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all provider/partner activities including those within AARP Services and the organization. Manages the day-to-day provider relationship and activities to ensure success of the product/program.
  • Ensures program growth including revenue, member value and product enhancement opportunities through annual account plan development.
  • Manages the ongoing quality control of programs and assures compliance with all contract terms including review process of the program and provider/partner, oversight of marketing plans, product operational plans, and product enhancement.
  • Manages or participates in provider contract renegotiations in the portfolio for the products/programs offered to the organization's members.
  • Influences matrix to optimize program functions, including strategic account planning and growth.
  • Works with the providers on the development of a continuous improvement process for all program and product categories.
  • Collaborates with the leadership to set strategic direction for the program and program development.
  • Completes periodic competitive assessments of program or products in order to monitor relative value within the marketplace and identifies the features and competitive advantages versus the competition.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, advertising, or communications-related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 4+ years of related experience. Experience preferably in the areas of retail, restaurant, wireless, and/or entertainment working with a focus on product development and management, financial and transaction forecasting, and business account and relationship management preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation, and interpersonal communication skills with complex and diverse audiences.
  • Solid critical thinking and proficiency in applying quantitative and qualitative analytical skills to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Ability to build productive business relationships and work effectively with multiple levels and disciplines within a matrix organization as well as with program providers.
  • Ability to lead effective cross-functional teams, while exercising good judgment in sensitive situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple products, projects, and external vendors.
  • Solid proficiency in MS Office Suite and Salesforce.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% may be required.

  • In office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
