Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Psychiatry you will:
• Provide direct patient care by participating in rounds, monitoring drug therapy, and making interventions.
• Monitor for drug-related adverse events, reduce the overuse of psychotropic medications and provides comprehensive medication management through collaboration with the care team.
•Review and verifying physician orders for appropriateness.
• Conduct medication group and discharge counseling, assist with admission and discharge medication reconciliation and streamline/ensure appropriate formulary use.
• Improve medication adherence, reducing antipsychotic polypharmacy, and providing a patient-centered care through shared decision making.
• Educate other healthcare professionals about psychotherapeutic medications and provide/recommend non-pharmacological interventions.
• Assist with protocol development, guidelines, order sets, and policies & procedures related to safe and effective medication use in psychiatry.
• Optimize therapeutic outcomes while providing cost effective treatment.
• Conduct research or Medication Usage Evaluations (MUE).
• Precepting students and pharmacy residents

Qualified candidates will possess:
• Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from accredited college of pharmacy
• ASHP accredited Residency (preferred)
• Active Maryland license required
• PGY-1 residency or Minimum of 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience in the area of specialty with ASHP accredited Residency (required)
• Board Certification and PGY2 Residency (preferred)
• Prior experience precepting students and residents
