As an AARP intern in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, you will be a part of a busy and productive national team engaged in driving awareness about AARP to multicultural audiences (African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian-American/Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaskan Native, LGBTQ+, disability). This internship will begin in the Summer of 2023 with the possibility of extending additional semesters.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in increasing awareness and engagement among AARP multicultural audiences nationwide through partnerships, programs, and advocacy as needed
  • Support the development of multicultural marketing research and compile recommendations regarding priority audience issues with online searches, publications, and library materials
  • Organizing marketing collateral, webinars, and tele-town halls
  • Assist in event management support for national partnership events and internal events
  • Provide project management support for new programs and marketing campaigns
  • Updating internal communications channels
  • Assistance in coordinating with state offices for national and regional multicultural events for state presence

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will be a graduate student in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, business management, social science, or a related discipline
  • The ability to speak Spanish or Chinese is a plus but not required
  • Exhibit strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Detailed oriented
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Social Media Platforms (Twitter and Facebook)

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
