Position Overview

The Washington Post is seeking a Director of Product, Future Initiatives to join the Core Product team. You will lead our company's product experimentation efforts to shape the future of our core product suite. You will identify emerging trends to create, develop and execute product strategy that aligns with overall goals and objectives to meet consumer needs.

Your team will leverage research to drive innovation for potential, next generation audiences and will sit at the intersection of all product roadmaps. This role is critical to The Post's commitment to industry-leading experiences across its product ecosystem.

You'll be integral member of the larger team of talented product directors, managers and designers plus will closely work with news and technology teams. A desire for leading teams, collaborating across departments and advocating for the purposeful experimentation is essential. This role reports directly to the Head of Product.

Responsibilities
  • Own the strategy and operations for all new products and initiatives, including AI experiences, diverse content areas and global audience products
  • Use analytics and research to generate insights and identify opportunities
  • Oversee user research and analysis to understand customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, prioritize the backlog, and plan sprints that result in meaningful new products
  • Set overall product vision and KPIs for innovation
  • Lead the development of new products from ideation through launch, working closely with cross-functional teams including news, engineering, design, marketing, and sales.
  • Manage a team of product managers, designers, and engineers
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive products


Qualifications
  • 5+ years as a product director or senior product manager, preferably experience with driving new product strategy
  • Diverse portfolio of launching products
  • A proven track record of critical thinking and problem solving in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • A collaborative spirit and ability to build strong partnerships across disciplines that result in better product outcomes
  • Comfortable using quantitative and qualitative data to identify user needs and inform solutions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Passion for innovation and staying on top of emerging trends and technologies
  • Experience shaping product methodology, technical solutioning, and the software development process
  • An understanding of Agile methodologies, design thinking process and design systems

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.

The Washington Post includes salary ranges for certain positions to comply with local pay transparency laws. The salary range for this position is:
123,200.00 - 205,400.00 USD Annual

The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
