Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Director of Nursing for our Main, Pediatric and Germantown Emergency Departments who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

The Director assesses, directs, manages and evaluates the delivery of nursing care and patient support services on a 24-hour basis to achieve a specified standard of nursing care for the patients. The Director ensures the existence of streamlined care delivery systems, which promote smooth patient transitions across the care continuum. Through effective fiscal and operational management, the Director maintains optimum patient care operations, including staffing, scheduling, general resource allocation and communication systems. The Director also uses orientation, education and developmental programs to expand each staff member's individual capacity for growth. Practices in accordance with Hospital Policy, Maryland Practice Act, ANA Standards of Care and unit / departmental standards.

As a Director of Nursing ED, you will:
• Assures high quality standards of care with in the unit by using the nursing process as reflected in the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice
• Responsible for sharing information about the organization's initiatives and efforts to ensure effective operations, effective work relationships and informed and engaged employees
• Effectively manages the financial proforma of the department in accordance with the strategic plan, mission, goals and values of the organization
• Demonstrates leadership and professionalism in support of the continuous quality improvement efforts in order to achieve high quality in all areas of care and service
• Optimizes the function of the Nursing Department through effective human resources management
• Responsible for maintaining departmental compliance with all JCAHO Human Resource Standards
• Responsible for personal conduct, which maintains adherence to the Corporate Compliance program
• Promotes organizational effectiveness and maintains high quality environment

Qualifications include:
• Graduate of an approved professional nursing program
• Master's Degree required in healthcare administration or management
• 3-5 years' experience in management required
• Licensed / currently registered to practice in the State of Maryland as a
Registered Nurse

Work Schedule:

This Director of Nursing is responsible for operations and staffing of all Central Campus ED departments: SGMC Main, Pediatrics, and Germantown Emergency Center. Expected to meet all needs of each area - 24/7 responsibility.
