Analyst, Counterparty Credit Risk

The Counterparty Credit Risk Analyst is responsible for supporting the effective management of credit risk for a portfolio of Capital One's financial institution counterparties including domestic and foreign banks, broker/dealers, asset managers, BDCs, and insurance companies. The Analyst will be assigned a specific portfolio of counterparties, and will be responsible for analyzing each counterparty's credit quality, preparing detailed annual credit reviews, assigning credit ratings, establishing and monitoring credit limits and exposure, and producing reports to effectively communicate the risk of individual counterparties and the overall portfolio to senior leadership.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing counterparty credit reviews by analyzing financial statements, monitoring news and industry research
  • Assign a credit rating using approved scorecards
  • Establishing and monitoring counterparty credit limits and exposures
  • Providing research on industry trends potentially impacting counterparties' credit ratings and financial health
  • Providing recommendations to mitigate counterparty risk
  • Developing insightful and actionable reporting on overall counterparty risk in Capital One's portfolio
  • Interacting directly with business partners across multiple line in the Company including market risk management, treasury, commercial banking, and trading
  • Assist in preparation and presentation of other ad-hoc reports and analyses

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or Military experience
  • At least 1 years of experience in analyzing financial statements or at least 1 year of experience conducting credit analysis of financial institutions
  • At least 1 year of experience working within the Microsoft product suite or Google suite

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 2 years of experience in credit analysis of financial institutions
  • At least 1 year of experience with third party data services (SNL/S&P Market Intelligence, S&P Capital IQ, etc.)
  • At least 1 year of experience with database query tools (SQL) and report development

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City: $95,700 - $109,200 for Associate, Market and Liquidity Risk

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
