Job Announcement
Planner III - Senior Coordination Planner, Zoning Evaluation Division, Department of Planning and Development. Performs a variety of advanced zoning evaluation/administration functions. Serves as a primary contact for Site Development and Inspection Division (SDID) staff within the Land Development Services (LDS) department for zoning application information, implementation of approved proffers/development conditions and general application of Zoning Ordinance provisions during the site/subdivision plan and building plan review processes. Conducts periodic quality review and analysis of proffer compliance narratives. Provides review and input of draft proffers and development conditions during the zoning process to anticipate and minimize proffer compliance issues. Attends meetings, makes presentations, develops and conducts staff and industry training, writes detailed reports, and interprets data relating to land use, transportation, public facilities and environmental planning. Other duties include preparing written responses to inquiries through the proffer interpretation process and conducting research to prepare those determinations, providing feedback on other action assignments as required, and may include review and analysis of rezoning, special exception, special permit or variance requests on an as needed basis. Performs related duties as required.
Note: The salary for this position will not exceed the midpoint of the advertised salary range ($100,893.52).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a planning related field; plus four years of experience in a planning-related field.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position is primarily sedentary; however, employee may be required to do some walking, standing, bending and carrying of items under 15 lbs. in weight. Work assignments may also require that the employee make site visits and inspections. Employee must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Panel Interview and may include a practical exercise.

- Public sector planning experience at the senior level with four (4) or more years of experience in one or more of the areas of assignment listed above.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating complex zoning issues.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience using a personal computer for word processing, database research, presentations and GIS applications.
