This position is responsible for providing a full range of quality administrative duties to be executed in a professional manner. The Office Assistant serves as a point of contact for requests from faculty, staff, students, other Mason departments, and outside individuals and organizations. This position will work closely with the Department of Philosophy and the Department of Religious Studies Program Office Manager to manage and oversee daily administrative duties; walk-in traffic and phone calls; provide information and materials to students, faculty and staff; and will assist students and faculty with use of office and virtual resources; assist in website development, and other projects, as assigned. The Office Assistant will also provide support with planning, set-up, and execution of student events and initiatives as needed. Additional administrative and programmatic support duties will be assigned as needed. Temporary non-student wage hire. The end date of December 31, 2023, with the possibility of renewal.Responsibilities:Assist the Program Office Manager in daily operations for both units;Support faculty with day-to-day office clerical work and other accommodation requests;Assist faculty with travel requests;Maintain database for faculty workload and travel for faculty;Assist with travel arrangements - including logistics and reimbursement procedures;Support website management - including syllabi, course descriptions, articles, news updates, etc.;Serve as point of contact in office;Complete special projects for the Department of Philosophy and the Department of Religious Studies as assigned; andOther related duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Demonstrated and personable communication skills;Excellent organizational skills;Ability to prioritize work, multitask and to be detail-oriented;Maintain detailed records and minutes;Demonstrated problem-solving skills: ability to identify and address issues early in to ensure smooth execution;Ability to learn new systems;Proficiency using Word, Excel, PowerPoint;Polite, efficient and high responsiveness; andCordial, team-building approach.Preferred Qualifications:Proficiency using e-VA.
