AARP's Policy, Research and International Affairs leads the development and communication of AARP's public policies and, research and insights on the issues that matter to people 50-plus.

The Financial Policy Research Analyst supports the execution of the organization's public policy priorities and positions around financial security. Collaborates with and assists senior team members in policy research and data analysis. Utilizes sound research methodologies to conduct primary research, as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with and assists colleagues to access, analyze, and interpret data. Analyzes data and conducts literature reviews to develop insights.
  • Contributes to written reports and team projects that align with the organization's public policy priorities and positions.
  • Assists colleagues with policy development and research; planning events such as forums, roundtables, and working groups; and implementing research projects.
  • Assists the team with various project management tasks and social media outreach, and helps develop charts, tables, and graphics for papers and presentations.  
  • Monitors current legislative, regulatory, and public policy trends for the team.  

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree required - Economics, Finance, Statistics, Social Science, or a related discipline
  • 3+ years or more of job-related experience
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write blogs and develop social media communications are required. Some data visualization skills and experience is a plus.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills. Some project management experience a plus.
  • Experience conducting online research and utilization of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Statistical Packages (SPSS or SAS), and Data Visualization tools (such as Tableau) preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
  • Interest in financial, economic and retirement security issues.
  • In office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
