Duties

  • As head lifeguard, oversees the accomplishment of work and evaluates swim facility operation efficiencies. Assist manager by insuring adequate staffing of operations with personnel and the safety of users.
  • Directs lifeguards as required in the performance of their duties. Performs checks and makes adjustments in water quality levels and insures that the pump rooms are maintained and operational.
  • As head lifeguard, supports the management team in decision making and responding to concerns of guests and users. As lifeguard, responsible for the life guarding of guests at the swim facility.
  • Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Coordinates and conducts in-service and water survival training. Attends and or arranges for the conduct of aquatics and ocean front safety training.
  • Enforces and carries out policy and requirements. Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as trained.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. In addition, the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements. Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical is required for this position.
  • Must be physically fit in order to perform lifeguard duties.
  • Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
  • In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
  • Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • As head lifeguard, must hold current lifeguard, CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
  • A Lifeguard Instructor certificate is preferred.
  • Must have 12 months of experience in swim facility operations as a lifeguard.
  • Must be able to use sound judgment, accomplish tasks within established time frames, and possess good people skills requiring the ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and grammatically correct manner.
  • Must have experience with office functions such as preparing and managing reports.
