Risk Manager, US Card Partnerships

Risk Managers at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. These skills allow the Risk Manager to gain insights, and act as a change agent to influence their business partners. A successful Risk Manager operates from a foundation of knowledge about the Line of Business they support, applicable laws / regulations and good Risk Management practices. They are forward thinking, quick to adapt, and technologically adept. Risk Managers have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to appropriately mitigate risks within the Card business.

As a Risk Manager on Capital One's Partnerships Card Risk Team, you will be responsible for working with business partners and risk colleagues to identify and manage existing and potential risks to the Card Partnerships Portfolio. Risk Managers at Capital One are the first line of defense to ensure our Company remains well-managed and profitable.

The specific Risk Manager role that is open is a Vertical Risk Manager who will support our Trade Credit business to business lending team, as well as our traditional consumer lending Partners. This Risk Manager will interact with our business partners to improve management and oversight of their business processes and products. The Partnerships business has a number of growth opportunities on the horizon that this associate will be critical to enabling that growth in a well managed manner.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance to business in the implementation of risk management practices
  • Understand the broader context and implications (e.g., financial, legal, reputational, etc.) of the various types of risk affecting the Card Partnership organization
  • Stay abreast of the changing regulatory environment and understand the impacts to the Card business
  • Evaluate and improve the process, risk and control environment, offering advice and guidance across many risk domains
  • Provide risk consulting on new business intent and ensure proper governance on all business initiatives
  • Drive collaboration between Risk, Compliance and other business support functions (e.g., Legal, Privacy)
  • Provide oversight and guidance during risk assessments and BAU operations, identify and analyze risk issues/events, and drive required remediation
  • Analyze and resolve effective challenges from risk stakeholders (ex. ERM, ORM, Compliance, Audit)
  • Participate in risk forums and contribute to continuous improvement of risk management practices in Card Partnerships

Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience in risk management or compliance


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of risk management experience
  • 3+ years of experience in operations management
  • 3+ years of experience in Analysis
  • 3+ years of experience in performing risk and control assessments, control testing, or assessments against industry risk frameworks
  • 2+ years of experience in Process Management or Project Management
  • Agile or Design Thinking experience
  • Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)
  • Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, Business Process Management, or Project management certification
