Duties

  • You will install operating systems to meet an organization's information technology (IT) needs.
  • You will configure network assets (e.g., servers, routers, switches, hubs, firewalls, peripherals, hardware, software, or similar assets) for reliable performance.
  • You will install software to ensure networks are operational.
  • You will analyze operating systems malfunctions to implement corrective actions.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain/maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty areas System Administration 451 and Administration 441 as a condition of employment.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • NAVFAC is a regionalized command and the employee serving in this position may at any time be assigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area as a condition of employment.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems; 2) Maintaining and developing systems configuration; 3) Troubleshooting networks, systems, and applications to identifying and correcting malfunctions and operational problems; 4) Managing accounts, network rights, and accessing systems and equipment; AND 5) Administrating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.

Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
