The Fairfax County Department of Procurement and Material Management is currently seeking a highly motivated, skilled individual to lead the Business and Technical Solutions Division. The position reports to the Deputy Director and manages a thirteen-member team. As the Business Solutions Division Director this leader meets the needs of business process users by identifying and implementing new software solutions or enhancements to current modules (ordering, contracts, inventory) to improve the County's Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) applications (SAP, Acquire, Bonfire). Engages with stakeholders to identify, scope, prioritize and deliver procurement focused technology initiatives including developing business cases and strategic roadmaps. Oversees the technical direction and technical support for department networked, mobile and telecommunications devices. As a member of the department's leadership team, plays a key role in enabling the collaboration with business process stakeholders, to include internal (procurement and contracting staff) and external (suppliers, banks, etc) users. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing several major e-commerce programs such as the procurement card and office supply programs, the delivery of all customer-focused procurement training, and for driving the department's sustainability initiatives such as supplier diversity and environmentally preferable procurement and overseeing the implementation of the County’s Zero-Waste plan. The successful candidate must collaborate with a wide variety of departments to advance the county's procurement processes and technologies.
Schedule: Position participates in events which may occur outside of normal business hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration or a related field, including courses in purchasing and supply management principles, laws, methods and procedures; plus five years of progressively responsible experience in responsible business area, including considerable experience in analysis of cost proposals, negotiations and resource planning, and three years of increasingly responsible supervisory experience. A master’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Nationally recognized certification in the area of assigned responsibility.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and a credit check. Applicants/employee in this position must demonstrate financial responsibility in personal finances as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job is generally sedentary. However, corrected visual acuity is required to read data displayed on a monitor or printed documentation. Manual dexterity is required for this position. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
