Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Director of Finance of Howard University Faculty Practice Plan who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.
Since 2020, Adventist HealthCare has partnered with Howard University Hospital under the Management Services Agreement with a primary goal of enhancing critically strategic operations, financial alignment between Howard University Hospital entities and carrying out the Howard University Hospital mission of education, research and clinical care.
The Howard University Faculty Practice Plan (HUFPP) is the multi-specialty faculty physician practice that is affiliated with Howard University Hospital and Howard University College of Medicine. Under the MSA Adventist HealthCare and the Howard University College of Medicine have partnered to further the success and mission of HUFPP.
As a Director of Finance of Howard University Faculty Practice Plan (HUFPP) you will:
• Manages and facilitates all aspects of the FPP annual operating budget and planning process in conjunction with AHC standards to help drive successful financial performance. In cooperation with management and department chairs, reviews prior financial results and discusses anticipated changes to highlight future needs and trends of the facility. %
• Manage and oversee all aspects of the service lines and physician services' annual financial reports.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements, financial packages, and other informational reports/analysis.
• Provide leadership and direction to drive financial success by analyzing and setting financial goals and ensuring goals are met.
• Direct all aspects of accounting operations, such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial reporting, etc.
• Develop, implement, and ensure that appropriate financial infrastructure is in place to support the Faculty Practice Plan in its various phases of growth, while maintaining fiscal balance
• Implement departmental performance improvement activities including monthly department reviews with department managers.
• Manage, direct, and develop finance professionals by providing oversight, guidance, establishing priorities, balancing workload, and conducting performance management, etc.
Qualifications include:
• Bachelor's degree required
• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Health Care Administration, Business Administration preferred
• 10+ years health care or finance management experience
• Experience with the financial environment in the District of Columbia.
• Experience overseeing budgeting, and the implementation of budgets, as well as monitoring progress
• 2 years in a financial management leadership position, preferably in a health care setting.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
• Current and deep knowledge of financial industry trends and regulations
• Outstanding financial analysis and modeling skills required, including variance analysis, financial statement analysis
• Ability to design and prepare detailed financial reports and analyses
• Excellent presentation skills with the ability to explain complex financial information to varied audiences
• Demonstrated track record of incorporating best practices, optimizing reports, and implementing software tools and solutions
• Ability to work well with a wide variety of individuals, including administrators and other professionals
• Ability to effectively review, analyze financial data, and make recommendations
• Advanced proficiency in financial and cost accounting including comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday 8AM TO 5PM
