Duties

Minimum Education Requirement:

Degree ineconomics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus?

OR

Combination of education and experience:courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

AND

Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Experience applying economic theory and principles to perform studies with a wide-ranging impact; Using computer data processing to perform economic analysis; Modifying and adapt methods to develop new techniques or procedures to apply to projects and studies of considerable scope and breadth; and making presentations of controversial findings to a wide range of audiences.

Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.

Additional information

If hired for this position with the Census Bureau, at its headquarters office located in Suitland, Maryland, you will be expected to temporarily telework to maximum extent while the headquarters building is being renovated. Once permitted to return to the office building, you will be expected to do so within 30 calendar days of receiving notification. At that time, you may be eligible to continue to telework or work remotely two or more days a pay period consistent with the Census Bureau's flexible telework and remote work policies and approval from your supervisor.
