AARP's Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) Group includes Membership, Content and Editorial, Customer Experience, External Relations, Brand Strategy and Strategic Communications. The Solution Architect/Engineer II will help us connect multiple enterprise platforms (CMS, Java Applications, CDPs, Journey Orchestrators) to deliver real-time consumer experiences leveraging automation and AI. Discovers the true requirements underlying feature requests and recommends alternative technical approaches. Partners with cross-functional technical teams to launch projects and provide ongoing technical support. Collaborates with management to identify opportunities to streamline technology processes and develop new procedures that support the business unit/department.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes a technical roadmap for the platform and/or capability strategy and lifecycle that considers value-based outcomes, costs to maintain, supportability, and performance.
  • Ensures sound integration, data, security, and business architecture design throughout all stages within the platform and/or capability lifecycle.
  • Provides rapid delivery and development of technical solutions that align with business and/or platform desired outcomes.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues related to platform or capability systems, solutions, and services.
  • Innovates and drives continuous improvements of implementation methodology and technical service offerings based on customer/employee experiences or other enterprise objectives/outcomes.
  • Participates in a Community of Interest for engineers across all capability and platform teams to share information and strengthen understanding of business needs and technology-based business solutions.
  • Develops and maintains deep technical knowledge and expertise related to domain area systems, solutions, services, and applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field and 10+ years of programming experience with a high level of agility, analytical, and mentoring skills, 5+ years of experience on public cloud preferably AWS, and 3+ years of experience with DevOps pipeline using Git-based repositories (BitBucket, GitHub), Static and Dynamic code scanning, Infrastructure as Code (Tanzu Cloud Foundry) and blue/green deployments.
  • Strong experience in MarTech technologies such as Consumer Data Platforms.
  • Experience in connecting digital platforms to deliver personalized value in real-time.
  • Experience in building high-performance, high-reliability, high-throughput cloud-native distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of Agile and strategies for improving the efficiency of the methodology through mentoring and continuous improvement.
  • Proven track record, encouraging the creativity and innovation of your teams, crafting a culture of inclusion, experimentation, exploration, and continuous learning.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits

AARP offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including a 401(k); 100% company-funded pension plan; health, dental, and vision plans; life insurance; paid time off to include company and individual holidays, vacation, sick, caregiving, and parental leave; performance-based and peer-based recognition; tuition reimbursement; among others.

For this position, we anticipate offering a salary between $153,000 to $178,500 per year. This role is also eligible to participate in an annual incentive plan with a percentage up to 12%. Bonus eligibility is dependent upon organizational and individual performance.
