Are you a problem solver seeking an exciting challenge? Can you build relationships and have an eye for continuous improvements? Come be a part of an organization that's dedicated to helping Capital One identify, manage and effectively mitigate third party risk. As a member of the Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) team within Operational Risk Management (ORM), that's exactly what you'll do. Working with talented associates in ORM and other key stakeholders, you will apply your organizational and communication skills towards ensuring we have a high performing team, delivering on our priorities effectively and efficiently.

We empower associates to deliver their best by cultivating a culture of inclusion and belonging, where varying perspectives and opinions are valued. We embrace each other's differences and encourage all team members to lean into their talents and skills to deliver superior experiences.

As a Director within TPRM you will be responsible for the oversight of our third party risk program framework and requirements which are defined within our Policy, standards and procedures. The framework and requirements are core to how we provide effective challenge and oversight to our business partners. Directors at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. These skills allow the Risk Manager to gain insights and act as a change agent to influence business partners. As Capital One evolves to meet the ever changing landscape, so do our Directors. Responsibilities include oversight of a team responsible for the following:
  • Ensuring a third party framework that supports the effective assessment of the criticality and risks that third parties pose to the enterprise
  • Ownership of the corporate Third Party Risk Policy and supporting standards and procedures which govern our third party processes
  • Supporting and in some cases leading teams through regulatory exams and internal audits where third party risk is in scope
  • Reviewing organizational performance outcomes to identify potential areas of third party risk exposure that require further review. At times, vast amounts of data and information must be reviewed and analyzed while working closely with cross functional business partners and senior leadership.
  • Assisting in the development of risks, issues and/or mitigation plans to ensure the business implements needed changes and addresses areas of exposure
  • Supporting third party risk taxonomy and diagnostics which allow business partners to determine third party risk at divisional levels to the most critical business processes

A successful candidate will:
  • Exude a strong business acumen
  • Be able to produce executive level decks with insights and recommendations
  • Oversee data-driven, risk-based analysis, starting with problem identification or hypothesis development
  • Have strong communication and collaboration skills, fostering positive working relationships with business partners
  • Establish project parameters, delivering on multiple priorities to help drive business value and support team objectives
  • Have experience in third party management practices and risk
  • Have experience in policy management, including driving appropriate structure and oversight routines

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of Financial Services Risk Management Experience
  • At least 3 years of Project or Process Management experience
  • At least 3 years of People Leadership experience
  • At least 2 year producing executive level reporting and analysis
  • At least 1 year experience in policy management

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 7 years of project or process management experience leading cross functional projects or programs in Risk Management
