You will be vital to the success of George Mason's mission by maintaining clean, sanitary, comfortable, and tidy spaces on campus.Floor technician work including:Moving furniture before and after cleaning;Vacuuming, dust mopping, sweeping, and wet mopping;Operate floor sweepers, automatic scrubbers, high and low speed machines, shop vacuums, carpet extractors, and more;Stripping and waxing floors;Carpet extraction and spot cleaning;Floor scrubbing, polishing, and buffing. Top scrubbing and finishing;Measuring, labeling, and operating chemicals and dispending units correctly;Cleaning, maintaining, and storing equipment and PPE proficiently;Keeping an inventory of floor areas, and scheduling cleaning and maintenance duties;Additional general cleaning, including windows;Communicates to Lead Housekeeper the need for additional cleaning supplies to maintain the appropriate level in respective housekeeping closets;Establishes and maintains a positive and operative working relationship with members of the department and the campus community;Effectively performs in a service environment;Follows all State, University, and departmental policies, procedures, and practices; andPerforms other related duties as assigned.Shift:Sunday - Thursday, 9:30pm - 6:00amRequired Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent;Some experience (generally one year of related work), or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired;Experience in the use of mechanical floor and carpet cleaning equipment;Ability to read, understand and abide by all safety policies and procedures;Ability to read and follow cleaning instructions and schedules;Ability to practice effective oral communication skills with students, faculty and staff;Ability to work independently, without close supervision;Ability to remain calm during stress periods; andValid drivers license; must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/.
