The Lourie Center Therapeutic Nursery Program, Adventist HealthCare, is hiring a full-time Co-Teacher in Rockville, Maryland. We are currently offering a $1,000 sign-on incentive to qualified candidates!

We're seeking an experienced Co-Teacher who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As the Co-Teacher, you will:
•Work closely with the TNP Director, Lead TNP Teacher, and TNP classroom team in developing, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum and therapeutic aspects of the TNP.
•Show the ability to creatively design lessons and curriculum that address individual, and group needs. Oversees lesson plans created by the Teaching Team and Social Worker to ensure that the lessons are age-appropriate and meeting students' developmental goals.
•Meet with Lead Teachers weekly to collaborate and plan upcoming events.
•Coach and guide classroom team in observing, reflecting, and responding to the therapeutic and academic needs of the children.
•Measure student progress through assessments, data collection, and anecdotal note taking. Uses Teaching Strategies Gold (TS to track students' growth and progress.
•Responsible for daily set-up of classroom and maintaining food and classroom supplies.
•Organize and lead parent-teacher conferences twice a year.
•Demonstrate strong skills in oral and written presentation of educational and therapeutic progress reports, as well as monthly newsletters and calendars.
•Along with the TNP treatment team, develop relationships with families and be responsive to the needs and concerns of the families.
•Support children in the classroom who may be in crisis. If child is a danger to self or others, must be able to physically manage all students in CPI Children's Control Position or Team Control Position.
•Plan and direct special events throughout the year (including end of year graduation).
•Plan and implement home visits with the TNP families on a yearly basis.
•Maintain professionalism with all staff and children during challenging situations.
•Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings.
•Work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and participate in reflective supervision.
•Consult with other professionals working with the students, including school systems, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and other similar professionals.
•Maintain the highest level of the Maryland Excels Program for the TNP programs.
•Maintain certification in the NAEYC accreditation. Maintain the responsibilities needed to be compliant with the Maryland Child Care license of Montgomery County.
•Facilitate and help develop the application for staff to achieve their yearly Maryland Child Care Credential.

Qualifications Include:
•Bachelor's in Education, Masters preferred
•Professional teaching license from the State of Maryland or be enrolled in a program to earn a teaching license as part of Maryland's Approved Alternative Preparation Program (MAAPP).
•Driver's license with no points on record
•Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
•Knowledge of early childhood development and special-needs
•Solid understanding of high quality, child-directed, play-based curriculum
•Ability to implement accommodations and modifications within a curriculum to support the diverse needs of all learners in the classroom
•Knowledge of early childhood literature and other instructional tools
•Knowledge of and experience with implementing sensory and behavioral supports into the classroom
•Familiarity with Creative Curriculum, TS Gold, and Maryland State Early Learning Standards
•Able to create and utilize assessments as measures of student knowledge and skills
•Familiarity with data tracking (academic and behavior)
•Exceptional conflict resolution, crisis management, and time management skills
•Ability to use PC (Windows, E-Mail, Internet), telephone, Copy Machine.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm
