Job DescriptionWe're looking for a driven, keen, willing-to-learn person to join our Marketing team. If you like storytelling, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and creating memorable moments, this is the role for you.As a Communications and Events Specialist, you will play an integral role in supporting how ATPCO shares information both externally with media, analysts, bloggers, and internally with employees around the world. As a part of the communications and events team, you will collaborate across three main functions: external communications, internal communications and events, helping to share ATPCO's story and initiatives, while helping us put together world-class events for our customers and staff around the globe. You will gain hands-on experience and learn the foundations of what it means to be a communicator or events planner while helping us execute communications, engagements, and internal/external events.You'll be joining a collaborative, and supportive team with diverse perspectives and will help us deliver solutions for our internal and external stakeholders. We don't expect you to know it all, but we do want you to be open-minded, have new ideas to share, and be willing to learn as you go.Internal Communications and Media Relations ResponsibilitiesYou will support creating media messaging points, press releases, media pitches, and more external communications.Media tracking and monthly reporting for media coverage, utilizing tools such as MeltwaterJournalist research into new media ATPCO should be talking toDirected by our Internal Communications Lead, support with content development, editing for our intranet, video editing and writing company-wide communicationsEvent Responsibilities We will need your skills with all foundational planning tasks and logistics for Industry events where ATPCO has a presence. Including:Industry event pre-conference preparation and post-conference data collectionActing as intermediary between event organizers and marketing teamOrganization of internal procurement processes and assistance with contracting, invoicing, and reconciliation.Researching, sourcing, and management of venues, entertainment, Food & Beverage for our own events, swag, and rentals.Registration support and reporting via our event management platform HubiloSupport with ATPCO's marquee annual Elevate event, with a focus on sponsorship support, room block and F&B management, entertainment, and SWAGPlanning and helping execute all internal eventsAbility to manage and maintain event tasking to keep Marketing team up to date via tools like AsanaThe Ideal Candidate:Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment across multiple functionsHighly organized with strong research, out of the box thinking, and problem-solving skillsExcellent oral and written skills with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel (organizing data, producing reports), Word (mail merges, formatting), and PowerPoint (basic formatting)Ability to support local events in the DC/ Northern Virginia area, as well as travel when neededEvent planning industry knowledge or prior experience is beneficial but not requiredBachelor's degree in communications, marketing, events, or public relations majors or equivalent experience/certification
