Developing creative, accurate, and tailored communications materials and media messages and materials that resonate for a variety of audiences is at the heart of the Media Analyst role at JBS. In this role, you will provide media and public outreach support services and will evaluate the impact of those services (eg, through metrics analyses, data gathering, performance measurement system development, surveys or other instruments that gather user input). This position is part of a multi-disciplinary team that develops and edits content and key messaging to support government health agencies that aim to address health needs and challenges. You'll also conduct media planning activities, research and write press releases and media advisories, and recommend and implement public relations strategies.The Media Analyst will join a motivated group of professionals who specialize in media and public relations, communications planning and evaluation, graphic design, multimedia production, and content development. We invite you to augment our team by applying your communications knowledge, skills, and proven expertise to the core functions of this role: Develop metrics summary reports and dashboards for clients that indicate the extent to which public relations activities and materials are reaching the intended target audiences, delivering messages as intended, and having the desired reach and impactTrack media coverage and analyze press releases as well as broadcast coverage to assess effectivenessUpdate media lists for press release distribution and media eventsAssist with the design and integrated execution of cutting-edge public relations and media outreach evaluation strategies, media monitoring efforts, and analytic activities across traditional, digital, and social channels (including use of media monitoring platforms such as Cision, HootSuite, Google Analytics, etc.)Facilitate other media activities, such as post-press conference follow-up and contact list maintenance for email campaignsPlan, develop, schedule, and publish actionable public health messages that align with client priorities and respond to audience needs and preferences Conduct landscape analyses, environmental scans, and audience needs assessments Develop strategies and recommendations to identify media sources for placement of op-eds, prepare media materials such as press releases and press kitsDevelop communications materials such as talking points, speeches, and other content for communications products (eg, press releases, press kits, media advisories, matte and newsletter articles, blog posts, social media messages, website content, multimedia products) per federal plain language guidelines and in accordance with an editorial calendarHave proven ability to apply social marketing and behavior change principles that maximize reach, engagement, and impact CORE COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:High degree of organization, attention to detail, timelines, and record keepingAbility to develop and maintain positive, responsive working relationships with staff and clientsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage work and self effectively and independently while remaining flexible and actively collaborating with colleaguesAble to handle numerous tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentConsistent demonstration of initiative and ongoing efforts to expand job knowledgeSkills in identifying issues and developing effective, innovative solutions Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required; working knowledge of design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, email campaign software such as MailChimp, and media monitoring tools preferredMINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Bachelor's degree in journalism, media, communications, or related field; a combination of a degree in one of these areas and a degree, certification, or equivalent work experience in health, social science, or a medical specialty is strongly preferredAbility to obtain public trust clearance (candidate may be required to obtain a PIV card/badge from a sponsoring NIH Institute to conduct essential job functions)Language: English fluency (oral and written)Experience: At least 5 years of experience working in health-related media or communications field. Experience in strategic communications planning, media campaign execution, media ad buys, media monitoring and social listening tools, and a range of social media platforms. Success in producing high-quality deliverables in a fast-paced collaborative environment Experience navigating the federal contracting environment, including the ability to support proposal work and to interface effectively and professionally with clients (experience supporting a federal contract for NIH or other public health government agency such as CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, SAMHSA, or similar is preferred) Knowledge: Journalism, media studies, or health communications; media management; evidence-based communications theory and practice; and project coordination LOCATION: Hybrid telework/onsite at JBS's North Bethesda officeOTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: This position description should not be construed to imply that these requirements are the exclusive standards of the position nor will it be the sole basis for any subsequent employee evaluations.
