Cards & Users Product Lead - Senior Product Manager

Do you get excited about creating customer experiences that are simple and effective? Do you want to apply your skills to help small businesses thrive? The Capital One Business Team is seeking a Product Leader to lead our Cards and Users product strategy.

Being able to delegate to trusted employees, reliably make purchases, and organize business spending is a critical job to be done for our Small Business customers. We envision an experience that allows simple user and card management and enables growth for businesses of all sizes. Our focus on simplicity is driven by our mission to help Small Businesses thrive, reducing overhead so they can get back to what they love most - growing their business.

We're looking for a leader that's equal parts coach, visionary, and problem solver. You'll be responsible for leading a team of Product Managers, co-creating a vision for the future while getting broad stakeholder alignment, and guiding the team to deliver exceptional value while knocking down all the things that slow us down.

On any given day in Business Cards & Payments you'll be:

  • Empowered. You'll play a major role in identifying our customers' pain points and translating that into the team's vision. You'll lead a team of product managers - working cross-functionally with design, tech, analytics, and marketing - to determine the best approach to help get us there.
  • Learning constantly. We still have a lot to learn about customer expectations and need to mature existing learnings to reflect evolving customer and market shifts. You'll need a mindset of continuous discovery and to be open to shifting as we learn.
  • Sharing openly. Our culture is one of transparency. Collaboration across multiple teams is a key to success. You'll need to understand your teammates' and stakeholders' motivations, influence their roadmap, and learn from their past experiences.
  • Innovating relentlessly. Push big change by starting small, testing ideas, and learning your way to results. You'll lead your team in the creation of hypothesis-driven learning agendas and defining metrics to measure success.
  • Succeeding strategically. Solve the right problem, and have the confidence to stop work on the wrong one. Grow big by identifying atomic value, then refining the path towards success.
  • Connecting creatively. We are solving challenging problems, so you'll need to find the best ideas from across the organization. How do you have an open and honest discussion on the path forward, disagree agreeably, and then move forward together.

Here is what you will bring to the table:

  • People Leadership: You create an inclusive team culture, empowering your direct reports, and inspiring your broader team. You care deeply about growing others.
  • Communicator: You can communicate complex ideas clearly; your team knows their priorities and why they're doing what they're doing.
  • Visionary: You'll be leading a team of PMs on a multi-year mission to deliver major customer value to Small Businesses. You'll need to define a vision for the future and inspire your team to build towards it.
  • Curiosity: You ask why, you explore, and you're not afraid to blurt out your crazy idea. Solving complex problems is addictive and you love taking on new ones. You value the diversity in the room.
  • Do-er: You have a bias toward action, you try things, and you're not afraid to fail and learn. You don't let perfect get in the way of good. You do what needs to get done - "it's not my job" is not in your vocabulary.
  • Customer Focus: You get a thrill from the journey of building and shipping products, and you have a desire and ability to connect with our external or internal customers to fully understand their needs.
  • Team Player: You inspire cross-discipline teams to work together on delivering great results. You know how to build a network of peers and stakeholders to grow your sphere of influence.
  • Technical: While you won't be asked to write code, you can speak intelligently with your developers and challenge them when needed.
  • Analytical: You make grounded decisions using data and believe that numbers help illuminate the truth.

Here is what we will bring to the table:

  • Competitive salary, including a strong 401(k) plan
  • Excellent medical and dental insurance (and other health benefits)
  • Superstar product, design, analytics, and engineering leaders
  • Continuous learning budget
  • Highly supportive and empowering leadership environment

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Product Manager
  • At least 1 year of experience managing Product Managers

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or Master's degree
  • At least 2 years of experience managing Product Managers
  • At least 2 years experience working at a financial institution or fintech, with comfort operating in a highly-regulated industry
  • Experience in agile product development
  • Experience partnering with senior product, tech, and design leaders to deliver value at scale
  • Proven track record bringing products to market in an enterprise environment
