Duties

  • Serves as lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation aquatics Program Manager or Pool Supervisor.
  • Performs life guarding duties and employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
  • Responsible for life guarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility.
  • Assists with scheduling of staff and programs, tracking inventory and ordering supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactorily complete all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 and complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
  • In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
  • Required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Availability to work irregular hours to include weekends, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
  • Additional background checks are required to have regular and recurring contact with children.


Qualifications

Possesses and maintains OR in the process of obtaining the following certifications:
  • Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e., Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS)
  • American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional"
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED)
  • First Aid
NOTE TO APPLICANTS: You are in the process of obtaining a certification if you plan on registering for or are already registered for the above-named certification courses. Must obtain certification prior to start of pool season on 19 MAY 2023.

Highly Preferred:
  • Possesses American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent i.e., Star Guard or Ellis Lifeguard Instructor Certification) OR
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent i.e., Star Guard or Ellis Water Safety Instructor Certification.
Applicants meeting the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred first to the Selecting Official. All other applicants will be referred for consideration if the certificate (referral list) is retuned with no selection.

These certifications must be reflected on your resume and if you possess any of the following trainings certificates, please upload with your application package: AED, CPR or First Aid.

This position is a Flexible (Flex) position and there are 0 guaranteed hours per week. Flex employees are not entitled to leave or benefits however, there is no upper limit to the number of hours a flexible employee may work (subject to overtime obligation and work scheduling requirements).
