Duties

  • You will provides hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, modification of existing computer systems.
  • You will independently installs, supports, maintains and modifies existing vendor-supplied operating systems such as Windows, Mac and Linux, vendor-supplied patches and new software, common and uncommon applications.
  • You will interprets and provides computing and cybersecurity compliance guidance for established DOD, DON and agency policy.
  • You will recommend utilization of existing software in the incorporation of software projects to reduce redundancy of code and increase overall efficiency.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 441 level B (basic) within 6 months of appointment.
  • The employee will participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543.2. A minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually documented in a current IDP signed by both the employee and supervisor.


Qualifications

For GS-09 position: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Maintaining the software used in computers, computer networks, and computer-aided design interactive graphics devices; 2) Supporting client and server computers, various operating systems, and office automation applications; 3) Installing computer systems including workstations, laptops, computer networks and other computer systems; and 4) Providing hands on troubleshooting and/or repair of existing systems.

For GS-11 position: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing internal operations and architecture of various types of computers; 2) Maintaining programming language and the relative efficiencies of their processing characteristic; 3) Supporting technical authority in the area of academic computing; 4) Installing computer operating system, applications, computer hardware, networking, and servers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS- Work can range from sedentary to significant walking and moving about the building and Academy grounds. Physical activity may include but is not limited to climbing, bending and carrying IT related items and test equipment. Must be capable of lifting 40lbs multiple times in a short period and lifting computer systems on and off shelves and carts, sometimes from overhead.

WORK ENVIRONMENT- Work is primarily performed in an office setting. The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions, dust, dirt, unusual odors, humidity and occasionally uncomfortable temperatures. Accomplishment of assigned duties may require the incumbent to work other than normal duty hours.
