The Fairfax County Tuberculosis (TB) Control Program is seeking a TB Public Health Nurse (PHN) III Assistant Manager. This full-time merit position will serve as both working supervisor and subject matter expert. Leads and supervises a team of public health nurses and paraprofessional staff in providing TB services to a diverse population who are confirmed or suspected of having TB disease or latent TB infection. Facilitates daily TB surveillance, TB clinical referrals, and TB education regarding TB disease and control to healthcare providers and the public in consultation with the TB Program Physician Consultant and TB Program Manager as needed. Leads and/or manages TB contact investigations. As a working supervisor provides TB services to TB clients. Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring process of new TB staff and assists with coordination of training and orientation. In collaboration with the TB Program Manager, ensures that TB program activities are implemented and evaluated. Participates in agency and program marketing and outreach activities to increase public health awareness in the community.

* This position includes a signing bonus for fully qualified new county employees in the amount of $5,000.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education with a bachelor's degree in Nursing; plus one year post-licensure nursing experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Possession of current license or a multistate licensure privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Valid motor vehicle driver's license.
AED-Required within 60 days.
CPR-Required within 60 days

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two or more years of experience working in a TB Control Program providing TB services to a diverse population in a public health setting. Must have a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information and professionalism in dealing with clients and colleagues. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal abilities to communicate effectively and clearly with a diverse population. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative connections with internal and external partners. Ability to work independently, and on interdisciplinary teams. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications. Experience working in health promotion, prevention, or education in the school setting. Two years supervision of paraprofessional and/or professional staff.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a sanction screening, a check of the Child Protective Services Registry, and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer. Tuberculosis test.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee is required to walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs and carry equipment or young children up to 25 pounds in weight. Uses hands to grasp, handle or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. Ability to drive a vehicle.
