Responsibilities

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8 or 10 hour shifts between 5:00am and 9:30pm, dependent upon need - 40 hours per week.

Occasional overtime

No Call, No Weekends!

Core Duties RN Duties: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
• Perform physical exam and health histories.
• Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
• Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
• Direct and supervise care provide by other healthcare professionals.
• Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
• Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
• Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
• Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
• Perform nursing services identified in the TO.
• Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.

Job Specific Details and Tasks: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Strongly preferred working knowledge of the military health care system including TRICARE

health benefits.

• Desired skill traits to include:

• Skill in setting up, operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps, oxygen analyzers, and other unit specific equipment, including but not limited to, EKG machines and vital sign monitoring units.

• Possession of basic knowledge of operating a wide variety of medical equipment/non-medical equipment in the unit to ensure patient and staff safety, proper equipment maintenance and

accessibility.

• Ability to perform/assist with procedures such as pulse oximetry, glucose testing, and other clinic specified procedures.

• Ensures proper documentation of care and treatments.

• Ensures all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift. Ensures preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed. Ensures medication/supplies

are replenished.

• Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.

• Ensures a safe working environment, employee safe work habits, and patient safety IAW regulatory agencies, infection control policies, and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* Education: BSN Degree.

* Experience: 1) Experience as a PACU Nurse for at least 12 months, which can include having worked full or part time and at least 3 years total nursing experience in an intensive care setting or medical-surgical inpatient unit. 2) Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required. 3) Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient conditions including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.

* Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse from any state.

* Clinical Certification: Board Certification in Peri-Anesthesia is highly desired.

* Life Support Certifications: Possess current AHA or ARC BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications.

* Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
