Responsibilities
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 6:30am - 5:30pm, for a 9-hour period to include 1-hour unpaid lunch.
No Weekends or Holidays
No Call
Job Duties and Tasks:
• Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
• Perform physical exam and health histories.
• Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
• Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
• Direct and supervise care provide by other healthcare professionals.
• Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
• Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
• Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
• Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
• Perform nursing services identified in the TO.
• Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.
• Shall possess ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and make appropriate clinical decisions.
• Shall ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. .
• Shall assess patients, including the ability to assess/evaluate telephonically.
• Shall possess ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
• Shall possess basic knowledge of emergency procedures in order to react promptly and appropriately to provide effective care during emergency situations, respiratory or cardiac arrest.
• Shall be skilled in setting up, operating, and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, endoscopic equipment, and other clinic specific equipment.
• Shall perform/assist with procedures such as endoscopic procedures, manometry, conscious sedation, prepping patient for procedures and recovering patients post procedure, bladder catheterizations, pulse oximetry, oxygen administration, EKGs, and other clinic specific procedures, in accordance with established protocols. Provides clinical oversight of all paraprofessionals involved in the provision of therapeutic treatments.
• Shall take part in clinic quality assurance programs to meet standards for the Joint Commission.
• Shall possess basic knowledge of established clinic standards of care and Joint Commission requirements for clinical and documentation protocols, safety, infection control, performance improvement, etc., to insure compliance with policies and provide consistent training and guidance for clinic staff.
• Shall possess knowledge and experience in Patient Advocacy, Patient Privacy, and Customer Relations.
• Documentation. Contractor employees shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established MTF standards, to include, but not limited to: timeliness, accuracy, content, and signature. Contractor employees shall only use MTF and Air Force-approved abbreviations for documentation in the patient health records and follow the MTF's Do Not Use Abbreviation List. (AFI 44-172 / AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards, 5 November 2013)
• Medical Records Documentation. Health care providers shall complete medical records documentation within 72 business hours of the encounter with the patient.
• Coding. Contractor employees shall use the proper coding of procedures and treatment, and shall maintain coding accuracy (CPT/E&M/procedure) at the same standard, 90% or higher, as military and civil service health care providers engaged in comparable work.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing - OR - minimum of 3 years of nursing experience with an Associate Degree of Nursing may be considered. Graduate from a college or university accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
* Experience: Shall have a minimum of 36 months of experience as a Clinical Nurse within the last 48 months. Previous experience in gastroenterology to include moderate sedation for procedures is preferred but not mandatory.
* Licensure: Current, full, active and unrestricted RN license from any state.
* Life Support Certifications: Possess ARC or AHA BLS and ACLS
* Security: Must be able to pass a Government background check and obtain a Government security clearance.
