Are you a creative, passionate, and results-driven student interested in community outreach and event planning? The AARP Georgia Team is looking for you! Our team creates and executes various events and projects to improve people's lives as they age and help build a better tomorrow for future generations. We'll challenge you to think and work innovatively on real-world projects. AARP is committed to your growth and cultivating your continued learning and development. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of May/June 2023 and will go through the end of the year.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of planning events, working with clients, event coordination, and execution
  • Conduct research, find resources, and propose new ideas to help make informed and impactful decisions about event opportunities, achieve quality event executive and stakeholder buy-in
  • Design basic visuals to support events and promotional efforts (event fliers, online images, etc.)
  • Develop in-depth knowledge and compile information on AARP priority issues
  • Assist volunteers with planning and logistics as needed and track activity results
  • Attend meetings, help prepare correspondences as well as assist in the coordination of volunteer outreach programs
  • Provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders
  • Assist with managing virtual production and technology execution on several platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom)

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
  • Must be a self-starter and adaptable with the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Zoom
  • Familiarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
