Summary

The MIL Corporation seeks a n Accounting, Senior Analyst to support a federal client in Charleston, SC. As a member of the team, the successful candidate will provide support for the Office of Property Accounting. The Property Accounting Senior Analyst coordinates the review, update, reconciliation, and correction of Departmental personal property capitalized assets ensuring accurate recording in the official accounting system (GFMS) and accurate financial reporting in the agency's Annual Financial Report (AFR).

Responsibilities
  • Serves as technical lead and subject matter expert for Personal Property accounting activities including ILMS, RFMS, and GFMS system analysis; associated interfaces; transactional analysis, documentation, and reconciliation; systemic and accounting-oriented root cause analysis and reconciliations, or other functional requirements requiring the in-depth technical knowledge of accounting, automated financial management systems and leadership experience.
  • Conduct accounting transaction analysis, verification of accounting interfaces, identification of accounting errors, identifying root cause(s) for rejected transactions and taking appropriate corrective action, making accounting entries into the automated system as needed, maintaining spreadsheets as needed to supplement the official accounting records.
  • Perform General Ledger and other financial reconciliations.
  • Perform analysis and reconciliation of assigned allotments and operating allowances, obligations, liquidations, financial statements, and subsidiary records.
  • Manages, communicates, and coordinates the implementation of systems applications through all phases of the system development life cycle, including planning, requirements analysis, design, development and testing, conversion, installation and evaluation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Documents, reports to management, and tracks to closure, system change requests, actionable audit items, etc.
  • Works effectively and efficiently within an ISO 9001 Quality Management System certified environment ensuring conformance with work standards and quality.
  • Make presentations/conduct training as requested by management.
  • Participate in Ad-hoc projects as requested by management.

Required Qualifications
  • A four-year degree from an accredited university or college (Accounting preferred) (experience and education or certifications may be substituted for education or degree type)
  • 5 years of overall relevant professional experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical, detail oriented and a team player
  • General Ledger experience
  • Analytically oriented with advanced writing, researching/editing skills
  • Systems development life cycle experience preferred
  • Federal government experience preferred
  • Per federal guidelines, you may be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or willingness to obtain vaccination.

  • Demonstrated technical, task leadership and communication skills
  • Subject matter experience with Federal accounting and financial management policies, practices, reporting, and operations; demonstrated capability to analyze complex financial systems requirements, problems, and issues; develop, communicate, and implement cost-effective solutions to the Department's requirements.
  • Experience with financial systems and accounting practices, and Treasury reporting processes and requirements.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
  • Initiative driven to conduct research and find more efficiencies in the business process

Education

A four-year degree from an accredited university or college (BA/BS degree in Accounting preferred)

Clearance

All personnel provided under this task order must be able to either possess or obtain a security clearance of Secret to be issued by Department of State, Diplomatic Security .
