Overview
In pursuit of service excellence the Front Desk Recreation Leader provides front line assistance to patrons at a recreation center or facility. Front desk team members are the face of our organization and provide outstanding customer service to all visitors. The position will provide exceptional customer service and foster a happy and engaged environment.

What You Should Bring
You should have the ability to speak, read, and write in English - however, bilingual speakers are a plus. You shall possess excellent multi-tasking skills and attention to detail; possess knowledge of customer service; possess good communication skills; have the ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and handle cash; possess good knowledge of and ability to use computers and complex software programs; have knowledge of how to operate a desk telephone; enjoy working with people;; be able to work indoors or outdoors in loud environments with varying weather conditions; and be available to work varying shifts including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Front Desk Recreation Leader:
  • Provides exceptional customer experiences to all patrons in person and on the phone;
  • Operates a point of sale computer;
  • Explains and enforces policies and procedures;
  • Provides information to the public in a positive and professional matter;
  • Records attendance and maintains attendance materials;
  • Performs light cleaning;
  • Works in a fast-paced environment;
  • Effectively communicates with teammates and the public;
  • Works independently, and reports to a full-time Recreation Coordinator or Manager on Duty;
  • This is a seasonal temporary position, with varied hours per week;
  • May work early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Availability to work some evenings and weekends will be required, and
  • Performs related work as required.

The Department’s vision is to improve the well-being of every person in our community by connecting them to each other and their environment. The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities received national accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). National accreditation requires park and recreation agencies to meet 155 standards representing elements of effective and efficient park and recreation operations.

Minimum & Additional Requirements

High School Diploma or GED or Six months of work or volunteer experience in a front desk, reception, retail, or recreation environment; Computer database or point-of-sale system experience. First Aid training; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with participants and the public; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants and staff; and the ability to assist others in the accomplishment of the overall goals of the recreation center/program to which assigned and of the Department. In addition to speaking, reading and writing in English, the ability to speak a second language (Spanish or Amharic).

At least 18 years old; available to work varying shifts including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays; able to work with long periods of speaking, sitting, standing, and exposure to a loud, fast-paced, indoor or outdoor environment with varying weather.
