Application Services - Customer Identity Technical Manager - Capital One Software - (Remote Eligible)

The Capital One Software team is exploring how these internal solutions across cloud, data, governance, and applications could serve the needs of other companies born or built in the cloud.

The Capital One Software Platform Architecture & Core Engineering team is looking for experienced and collaborative hands-on technology practitioners to join our exceptional team of talented architects and engineers. In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right. We are currently seeking a hands-on technical SME/Manager with first-hand, extensive experience developing B2B solutions using leading identity management providers such as PingIdentity, Microsoft, Okta etc. across both development and operational life cycles. The ideal candidate should have 5-7 years of experience in administering and engineering an Identity Provider including Federation and SSO setup using SAML/OpenID Connect, coding experience using scripting languages like JavaScript or PowerShell for extending out-of-box capabilities. This person will:
  • Develop centralized Capital One Software customer identity management capabilities.
    • Setup authentication capabilities
    • Create or modify B2B SSO connections from external clients to Capital One Software applications
    • Develop customizations via scripting
    • Troubleshoot IdP or SP SSO connections at the application or client level
  • Work closely with internal product development teams instrumenting external customers' access to Capital One Software products and customer's self-service capabilities.
  • Collaborate with product managers and product owners to develop and groom customer identity management capabilities backlog.
  • Lead and/or mentor a team of engineers.
  • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 4 years of experience with Identity and Access Management, Identity Federation or Single Sign On technologies.
  • At least 2 years professional experience with scripting languages
  • At least 1 year experience with information security
  • At least 1 year experience with cloud technologie s


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with Identity and Access Management, Identity Federation AND SSO technologies.
  • 5+ years of Identity Provider Engineering Skills
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, WS-Fed, SCIM (System for Cross-Domain Identity Management) and API's authorization/access management to enable customer's access to Capital One Software applications and SSO.
  • 1+ years experience creating centralized customer identity management capabilities, including self-service capabilities such as sign-on/registration, profile management etc.
  • 4+ years of experience coding in scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, and PowerShell.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist internal development teams to instrument applications and systems with authentication services and SSO.
  • Have experience with customer-facing support teams with resolving authentication and SSO issues (Level 3 support).
  • 4+ years of experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFE)
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City: $160,200 - $182,800 for Lead Platform Engineer

Location is San Francisco, California: $169,700 - $193,700 for Lead Platform Engineer

Remote roles in other areas of New York & California, and across Colorado & Washington: $135,700 - $154,900 for Lead Platform Engineer

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
