Senior Associate, Process Management Risk Advisor

As a Senior Associate in Capital One's Enterprise Services (ES) Risk organization, you will apply your analytical and project management skills to our highest profile risk management programs, having responsibility for helping the organization identify, manage, and mitigate key risks that may inhibit the Company from executing its operations and achieving its strategic objectives. The team plays a key role in assessing, analyzing, and reporting risks and related information for Capital One executive leadership and our Board of Directors.

ES Risk process management professionals operate within a highly collaborative team environment to deliver value-added risk services to our business partners. You will partner across ES Risk, with peers and senior leaders across the first, second, and third lines of defense, as well as lines of business to drive change in order to better manage the Company's risk in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded. The candidate will be a highly-motivated risk management professional with excellent analytical, planning, collaboration, and communication skills.

The Senior Associate will primarily be responsible for facilitating risk assessments of business processes with multiple stakeholders. They will be applying and developing methodologies to provide consistent, rigorous risk management across multiple lines of business. They will develop mastery of Capital One's risk management tools and systems, and be stewards of risk data.

Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Perform the role of a process management risk advisor and leverage subject matter knowledge and critical thinking to drive value during Process Level Assessments to ultimately improve our processes and reduce risk
  • Manage Process Level Assessment engagements from start to finish, coordinating the phases of the assessment with multiple stakeholders
  • Apply risk management experience and knowledge of processes, risks, controls to build and analyze risk profiles, and scope processes
  • Engage Second-line Risk Managers, including during challenges, to insure rigorous risk management
  • Identify new risks, potential trends, and potential control gaps in Enterprise Services' processes
  • Provide an independent, objective view of the business and/or function control environment, mitigation strategies and emerging risks
  • Provide guidance to the business areas in risk management principles in accordance with Enterprise frameworks
  • Assess and manage key risks associated with new business initiatives and change management activities
  • Maintain awareness of process breakdowns or control deficiencies (Issues) within the business areas
  • Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of existing controls and provide business direction on opportunities for improvement
  • Foster effective partnerships and collaborate with business and risk management partners
  • Participate in risk and other management forums and contribute to continuous improvement of risk and project / program management practices
  • Support direction, manage expectations, and may support/lead cross-functional teams through various initiatives, including oversight of third party resources
  • Support interactions with Internal Audit and Regulatory agencies related to our work, as applicable
  • Participate in and execute other special projects for the team on a periodic basis

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • 3+ years of risk management, compliance, legal, regulatory or operations experience
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills, customer focus, and ability to collaborate and influence across teams to deliver
  • Demonstrable knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals


Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 2 years project or program management experience
  • At least 2 years of agile or design thinking experience
  • Ability to set direction, manage expectations, and lead a cross-functional team
  • Experience identifying, sizing, and assessing risks
  • Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance software tools
  • Experience in controls development, controls management, and reporting activities
  • Demonstrable knowledge of intermediate or advanced cybersecurity principles

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City: $112,400 - $128,300 for Sr. Assoc, Cyber Risk & Analysis

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
